How payments work

Short version: your group sets the stakes, the app keeps score, and members pay each other directly. We never hold the money.

1. Your group sets the stakes

Before a round starts, the group's admin sets every number: the fee for a missed goal, the fee for not having next week's goals in by the deadline, the daily fee for late dues, the buy-in, the strike limit, and the share of the pot that goes to charity. The numbers lock when the round starts and are shown on the round page. A round can also be played with no fees at all.

2. The app records what you owe

When a week closes at the deadline, the app posts a charge to your ledger for each goal you didn't finish, and for a late submission if you were short on goals. From the second week on, an unpaid balance picks up the daily late fee after the due day. The buy-in is charged once, when the round starts. Everything is itemised on the Dues page, where you can see exactly which goal or week each charge came from.

3. You pay the treasurer directly

Payments do not go through this app. You pay your group's treasurer, or the admin if there is no treasurer, using Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. Their handles appear on the Dues page as tap-to-pay links. After you send it, tap “I paid” on your row. It shows as pending until the treasurer confirms it, and then your balance updates for everyone to see. The treasurer can also record a payment directly.

Accountability Games is not a bank, a payment processor, or a wallet. It does not collect, hold, transfer, or guarantee any money, and it has no access to your Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle accounts.

4. Disputes

For 24 hours after a week closes you can dispute a missed goal, either because you did it and forgot to mark it, or because it should be voided for reasons outside your control. The week's overseer, which rotates through the group, or an admin decides. An approved dispute reverses the charge. Nobody rules on their own dispute.

5. Where the pot goes

When the round closes, the pot is tallied. The percentage the group chose goes to the charity, ministry, or church the group named, and the rest is the celebration fund. Money paid into the pot is not refundable, and if someone reaches the strike limit, anything they paid stays in.
